What is Crepey Skin?

So what is crepey skin?   Dry, thin, delicate skin that looks and feels very similar to crépe paper. That’s where  it gets its name.  The texture is thin, dry, scaly. Skin feel looser and more delicate — when you pinch it, it doesn’t bounce back like it used to.

We’ve all seen it on our grandmother or grandfather, but it’s much more disturbing when we see it on ourselves. Everyone has crepey skin–that thin and sagging skin often caused by sun exposure and aging

What causes it?  As we age our skin becomes thinner and loses its ability to retain moisture due to diminished elastin and collagen — complex proteins that make up the netting matrix supporting it.

Where/when does it appear?   We start to see crepey skin in our late forties or really fifties. Although you may stay seeing some Crepey Skin as early as your thirties. At first we start to see crepey, scaly skin on the inner arms, neck, chest, knees, hands and eyelids. It best to start counteracting those signs as early as possible.
