It’s times like this that make the best memories

Hard to believe it’s been 4 years since I took my life into a new direction. 4 years ago I would have been at work, yes even on a Sunday. I was working 50+ hours a week and missing yet another memory with my kids..

So much has changed since then. Today, I spent the day with my family. We took 4 wheelers and snowmobiles and rode to my parents property with the plan of burning some brush piles that we had stacked last fall. Well long story short, we had an amazing day full of great memories, even though we didn’t get to burn any piles. With deep snow, getting stuck and even a blizzard (when the falling snow and wind cause the snow to bite you when it hits), we just weren’t able to get it done.

But, the day wasn’t a waste. It was a day filled with laughter, hard work and fun. I even told my daughter-in-law “times like this that make the best memories”. I mean I had grandchildren, my kids, husband and sister all along. Who better to spend a day in the snow with. Just enjoying our time together.

As I look back on the past 4 years, the new direction my life has taken is simply amazing. I get to live these memories, instead of just hearing about them from my kids. I’m busy making these memories with my grandchildren.

Years ago, it would have never crossed my thoughts, that I could schedule my work around my family, around those moments that make memories. But here I am.
