Should you sell Avon?

I seriously have to admit I never started with Avon to make money.  In fact I joined to help my daughter.

My mother was taking about “retirement”, and decided she was gonna stop selling Avon, so my daughter suggested that we become representatives and that way my mom would know her “Avon people” would be taken care of.  Well that was over 6 years ago, and my daughter has moved on to other things.

So why did my daughter move on, the biggest reason was not making money.  Until my mom officially turned over her customers to us, it was really hard to justify purchasing brochures, sample and other business tools with only 10 customers.  Of course the discount was nice on personal use products, but the savings didn’t justify the expenses to treat it as a business.

I’m not saying you can’t make a profit with Avon (I have for the past four years). But what I am saying is, you can’t expect to make money with only 10 customers.  I now average about 120 brochures each campaign, with an average of 10 orders a campaign. But it took time to build up to those numbers. And I know it’s gonna take time to build bigger.

The low start up, the no monthly minimum, and the FREE website are some of the reasons people join Avon.

Yes it’s true, Avon has no monthly minimum sales goal.  Which makes it enticing to do many people. (Both women and men).  But, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t set your own monthly minimum. In fact, to reach the President’s Club level ($10,000 in award sales in a year) you should set a goal of ruffly $385 per Campaign, or every 2 weeks.  That account includes business tools, orders you place as representative, and orders placed by your customers through your online e-store.
