Care for what you have

Have you ever wondered why it seems some people always have nice things.  Why is it that some people have everything.

Years ago I had the opportunity to meet a German Family. It was one of the summer our family was”, living in a camper neat one of my dad’s job sites.

This family I met we’re on vacation, camping and enjoying the outdoors.  One day I was talking to the more in the family, and after cleaning up their breakfast dishes she wiped the first off an older cooler, that looked brand new. She told me they had owned the cooler many years, but had already taken good care of it.  As she told me “to have nice things you must take care of them”

So it seemed at an early age I learned to work hard for what you want, but more importantly, take care of what you have.

I remember several times throughout my life I have wanted something. So I would save up the money, get the special thing I wanted, and then take care of it.  I still have the first stereo I bought. Of course it took me a summer of saving a little from each paycheck to have enough money to buy it. I’ve had that stero though many different phases of my life. I still have that feeling of pride each time I look at it.
