Not everyday do I reach my goals…
But having a goal keeps me from running around like a chicken without my head…
I actually have a day/week/month planner that I’ve developed for myself and print from a spreadsheet program. It sitd on my dining room table on a clipboard.
I try to focus on 6 tasks each day – 3 for my personal life and 3 for my business. Monica’s Avon Online Store I also list those daily chores that needed done (sweeping, vacuuming, dishes, mopping, laundry, dusting, etc)
The best part, I scribble through a task when I complete it. This gives me a sense of accomplishment, even if it’s a small task.
I first started using just a plain piece of paper. But I found that without having something to use routinely, I found myself not setting goals, therefore not getting done what I needed to do
I frequently felt anxious, and overwhelmed that I had so much to do. Writing down what I needed to get done, forced me to focus my energy and my time more efficiently. This was most important as I became busier with Avon Online Store and helping other local Avon Representatives.
Perhaps your not sure where to start, or if your like me, you might be overthinking the whole concept of goal setting.
Start simple, ask yourself what 3 things do I want to accomplish today? It doesn’t have to be anything enormous. It might be that you want to get the bed made, the laundry finished, and the yard mowed in your personal life. Now what about your business/career/job. Do you have something you want to accomplish in that aspect of your life? Maybe you need to deposit a check, fill your car with gas or Join the Avon Nation.
Remember to write them down, even if it’s on a scrap piece of paper to start, and look at them though the day. Then cross them off when you accomplish them. At the end of the day, you can look back and see that yes, I got something done. I accomplished what I set out to do.
Here’s a picture of my blank day/week/month calendar.
As you can see, the top of the page is devoted to the current month. The columns are where I right down what I want to get done that day. The first column has the day off the week and the date. The middle column is what I want to accomplish for my business. The right column is what I want to accomplish in my personal life.
Here is a picture of the planner on a Thursday afternoon. As you can see, I got most of what I wanted to accomplish done, but there are a few things I didn’t get done yet this week. If I don’t get them done, I I ask myself if it’s something I need to get done this week. If I can put it off another week, then I simply transfer it onto next week.
